Stickman has watched far too many Steven Segal movies. He believes he knows everything there is to know about martial arts and self-defense, despite never practicing or doing any exercise whatsoever. He likes to imagine what he would do if he was mugged. He lies awake every night, rehearsing all the different ways he would teach a mugger a lesson should he ever encounter one.

One day, he encountered a real mugger. He tried to disarm him by doing a kickflip. Unfortunately for Stickman, things go horribly wrong, and he gets killed, leaving the mugger perplexed as to why he would risk his life trying to fight him, seeing as Stickman didn't even have any money on him. Why I Started this Blog

 I must confess that this blog serves more than on purpose for me. I created this blog because I love writing and would like to share my creations with the world. The unfortunate truth is that I have also created this blog because I hoped it would bring in some money. South Africa is a bad place for new job seekers right now. In 2021 we had a youth unemployment rate of 63.3-66.5% with an overall unemployment rate of 28.77%. Meaning that only one in three new jobseekers will be able to find work. I am a qualified librarian but have not been able to find work for over a year now. Naturally, companies prefer workers with experience. Because of the low employment rate virtually all companies in South Africa have a policy of only hiring those with a minimum of two years of work experience, making entry into the job impossible for those who have just graduated. It was commonplace in ancient Rome to accept foreign gods into the Romans pantheon and Rome was in fact home to many foreign gods, but just how foreign were these gods? This essay will be looking at Rome’s attitude towards foreign gods. In doing so it will particularly look at the cult of Cybele and the cult of Isis as examples of foreign cults in Rome. This essay will particularly be focusing on why these two cults would have been considered foreign context. It will also be looking at how these cults were viewed by the Romans because of their otherness. The cult of Cybele is a particularly strange foreign cult seeing as Cybele is an essential part of roman society, but at the same time its members are ridiculed and ostracized because of their strange practices.
