Watcher in the water

 Watcher in the water

I am the watcher in the dark

He who never sleeps.

With skin as tough as bark

Seeing every creature that creeps,

on this vast earth

there is no one out of my sight

no one that can escape my might,

for Long

have a stared unblinkingly

from the abyss

waiting,

for my prey to come to me

for I am patience itself.

Long before the first creature had taken its first breath

I drifted in the void

time has lost its effect on me.

Occasionally some unlucky sailors happen on my lair

and I feed once again,

not to sate any hunger.

Simply because it is expected of me

It has been so long

I know nothing else now.

For when I raise my monstrous head

they already know their doom.

Long before they can see the vastness of my form

Long before they hear the snapping of my enormous limbs

they feel me at the edge of my senses.

No one who ever seen me has been able to tell the tale

Many did live

none with their minds intact

for I am the watcher in the deep

my mere presence makes men weep

Out of fear, terror or desperation

No

My form is much more primal

much more primal than the grasp of man

In the inky black pools that are my eyes

they can see the birth of stars,

of time,

of fear itself

And they shall know fear.

not fear made of instinct

But primal fear, original fear

That which I created so Long ago

Before stars, before time

Before creation.

I am the watcher in the water.

And I would prefer if you keep me out of your sight.
